Clara Mathews
MANTON ‹ Clara Mathews of South Bend, Ind.,
formerly of Manton, died Thursday,
Aug. 21, 2003 in South Bend, Ind.
after a long illness. She was 85.
She was born on April 2, 1918
in Manton to Orlando and Cecil (Taylor)
Goldsmith. She married Willis Mathews in Manton on Jan. 9, 1943. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2000.
Mrs. Mathews was a lifelong Manton resident. She was an active member of the Rollins
Christian Fellowship
Church and dearly loved her family.
Survivors include her children, Kathleen (Richard) Bridson
of Manton, Duane (Karen) Mathews of Tolland, Conn.,
Maron (Doug) Hogberg of
South Bend, Ind., Ben (Linda) Mathews of Mesa, Ariz. and Delores (John) Sawin of Fruitport; brother, Everett Goldsmith of
Sevierville, Tenn.; 14
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Willis, she was preceded in death by her brothers,
Loren and Duane, and sister, Verda Price.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Rollins
Christian Fellowship
Church with Rev. Robert Lanning
officiating. Burial will be in Fairview
Cemetery in Manton.
Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in
the church chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rollins
Christian Fellowship
Church. Envelopes are available at
the church.
Arrangements were made by Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton.
